Jamie Carragher has shared his honest thoughts on how Liverpool broke club records to sign Moises Caicedo.
Liverpool have agreed a British record transfer fee with Brighton for Caicedo, who is due to travel to Merseyside on Friday to undergo a medical.
The fee is understood to be around £110m and the star midfielder has also attracted interest from Chelsea.
The deal to bring the 21-year-old to Anfield comes after the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, who both left England for Saudi Arabia, left the club.
Jurgen Klopp has finally got his man, with the German boss also buying Alexis Mac Allister for £35m this summer.
Carragher hailed Liverpool’s signings this summer as a “great trade” as he referred to new recruits and departures.
“110 million is too much for Caicedo, but Liverpool had to pay big sums because the clubs knew they were desperate,” he wrote on Twitter.
“But signing two of the best young players for 145m and selling two older players for 52m is great business!”

Caicedo joined Brighton in February 2021 and enjoyed great success last season starring for The Seagulls.
He played 37 Premier League matches and scored 1 goal, winning the club’s Player of the Year and Player of the Season awards.
Caicedo will be Liverpool’s third signing this summer after the aforementioned additions McAllister and Dominic Zuboszlai, who cost £60m from RB Leipzig.
