Sergio Aguero placed a bet on Lionel Messi’s best friend only to completely forget about him.
This came after the circulation of a fake picture of Messi cleaning the floor in the Mexico shirt in the World Cup, with Aguero, the fighter, in his place.
But ahead of the World Cup, Aguero, who was forced to announce his retirement, bet $1,001 (£823) on Messi winning the Ballon d’Or on display.
He was clearly full of faith in the Barcelona legend and collected $8,264 (£6,800) thanks to an 825/1 bet placed with the Stake.
Even though he is no longer playing, Aguero is still doing well financially, and that stake has been erased from his memory by all the madness that followed the World Cup in Qatar.
“On November 17, I bet Messi will be the best player in the World Cup and I just realized that,” Aguero wrote on his Instagram story, accompanied by a screenshot of the voucher.

Not only did Messi finally get his hands on the World Cup to complete football well and truly, he was deservedly crowned as the best player of the tournament.
He scored seven goals and provided three assists in an amazing season, netting twice in a thrilling final against France – which Argentina won on penalties after a 3-3 draw.
Aguero lifted Messi onto his shoulders in an iconic pose afterwards, though he certainly didn’t think about his organized bet at the time.

@Bradm1nBets put £50 on the double and could be £22,550 richer if he put up – although he’s already been offered £605.
